How to Choose the Right Size Outdoor Furniture Cover
A furniture cover that's too small won't fit over the corners. One that's too large will catch the wind and shift around. Getting the size right is the single most important step — and it only takes two minutes with a tape measure.
Measure the whole setting, not just the table
This is the most common mistake. When your chairs are tucked in, the chair backs often extend higher than the tabletop. If you measure only the table, the cover will be too short and won't sit properly over the chairs.
Always measure with the chairs tucked in, in their normal stored position.
The three measurements you need
- Length — the longest side of the setting from end to end
- Width — the shorter side, again at the widest point including chairs
- Height — from the ground to the tallest point (usually the top of the chair backs)
Take each measurement at the widest or tallest point, not at the table edge itself.
What if I'm between two sizes?
Size up. A cover that's slightly larger than your setting drapes neatly and is easy to secure with the drawstring and buckle straps. A cover that's even a few centimetres too small will pull at the seams and be frustrating to fit.
Use the seating guide as a starting point only
Cover size guides often reference seating capacity (4-seater, 6-seater, etc.), but this is just a rough starting point. A "6-seater" table from one brand can be a completely different size to another. Always verify with your actual measurements before choosing a size.
